Jessica Rules the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey

Goodreads Description:

It’s one thing to find out you’re a vampire princess. It’s a whole other thing to actually rule. Newly married Jessica Packwood is having a hard enough time feeling regal with her husband, Lucius, at her side. But when evidence in the murder of a powerful elder points to Lucius, sending him into solitary confinement, Jessica is suddenly on her own. Determined to clear her husband’s name, Jessica launches into a full-scale investigation, but hallucinations and nightmares of betrayal keep getting in her way. Jessica knows that with no blood to drink, Lucius’s time is running out. Can she figure out who the real killer is—and whom she can trust—before it’s too late?

My Rating:

My Review:

Jessica is a American teenager turned vampire.  The first book in the series is about how Jessica met Lucius and how their romance too place and subsequently their wedding.  This second books is about Jessica and Lucius trying to prove they are ment to be Queen and King.  Jessica doesn't know the language, the customs, and more importantly she doesn't have the self esteem.  Then Lucius is framed for a murder and it's up to her to either save her husband or end up killing him, which to her is not an option.  She grows into herself in this book and realizes, just like her mother before her, that there is nobody but yourself to rely on in the end.

You could tell reading this book it was ment for a Young Adult crowd.  It didn't have the refinement of some of the other romance books I've read.  Saying that, I did expect it wouldn't be a literary masterpiece.  It was still a very good read and I enjoyed this the next book in Jessica's series!   In the end, Jessica proves she is the Queen she was ment to be, however you don't know if they are voted in as the Queen and King.  I guess that is going to be in the third book.  Can't wait to read it.
